Moving to Tumblr

So I have decided to move all of my blogging over to tumblr. It's quite less time consuming and generally easier for me then trying to post one thing on all of my various platforms. Plus I plan on starting a youtube channel soon and definitely will not have the time and energy for doing videos, tumblr and this blog. Here's the linky for my tumblr: http://raisedbygays.tumblr.com/

On the side are all the little links to various important tags.

OOTD is for all my fashion related posts.

Cosplay is of course my costumes

My face will be my makeup posts and random selfies because why not.

Thank you for all the fun times here I hope to see y'all over on the tumblrs.
Ta ta for now,
Caity

Outfit Post: All Black and White

Why yes I am wearing tights and boots in the middle of June. It has been quite cool here lately and I am quite pleased with this.

I got to wear my new cardigan!

And of course couldn't have a complete outfit without a skull and crossbones

(this was my attempt to take a closeup of my boots and tights)

Outfit Post and a Health Update

I was going for a "polished casual" or smart casual as they say in England. It's what happens when I read a book about Kate Middleton's Style. (Kate Style: A Chic and Classic Look by Alisande Healy Orme)

I wanted to try something a little more colorful and frankly has a bit of my preppy roots. My dad's from Louisiana and is very preppy. He even has a collection of pastel polo shirts! I promise I will never wear a pastel polo shirt.

But if you look closely I still got a bit of something different with my skull earrings. Gotta keep the look still fun and me. I like wearing outfits that are girly and classic and then sneaking in a bit of something different.

Top: Hand me down, Skirt: Some store in China, Shoes: Target, Earrings: Goodwill, Necklace: Some shop in China as well.

On to the Health Update (or why I've been gone for so long again.)

Most of you may already know that I have Fibromyalgia that was diagnosed three years ago. Which is if you don't know wide-spread chronic pain caused by the pain receptors in your brain and nerves being overly sensitive. Well it had been quite a bit better in terms of pain and my mobility for awhile. So I pushed it a bit too far and suddenly it got way worse. The pinched nerve in my hip didn't agree with my attempt at a ballet class from school, then my fingers and toes swelled up in the heat wave and it was very painful. Which was when I began to notice most of my joints were achey.

Luckily my doctor actually got me an appointment with a rheumatologist who after some poking and prodding at all of my tender spots suggested an anti-depressant which can also help with nerve pain. Which has helped enormously. So yay for that. I still am waiting on a few test results but I'm very glad to have a clear treatment plan this time. Clearly in the three years since I've been diagnosed Fibro is finally being taken seriously by doctors. As always when I'm not posting here I am on usually on tumblr, twitter, pinterest and instagram (links below). Sorry I've been gone so long and that's all for now.

Looks From Books: Blue Bloods by Melissa de la Cruz

I'm doing a new series on my blog now: Looks From  Books. Which is what it sounds like, outfits inspired by books. Mostly book covers. I was much inspired thanks to this blog: http://fashion-by-the-book.tumblr.com/

To start off I choose Blue Bloods by Melissa de la Cruz the first in a series which I am currently finishing up. (I only have the last book to read.)

This is the one of my favorite YA vampire Series. I heartily recommend. Even if your not normally a YA fan. It's glamorous vampires in New York along with gossip, secrets, forbidden romance and a dash of adventure. Plus a murder mystery. Lots of fun.

I couldn't really find anything in my closet that was close to the shade of purple that takes up most of the cover so I decided to try it in my makeup instead.

I didn't want to wear a ton of makeup as I was going for a look inspired by the main character, Schulyer Van Alen who has a relatively simple style.

The book describes her as liking vintage baggy clothes and as drowning in layers of fabric. It was 85 degrees yesterday so instead I went with what she might wear on a hot summer day.

I figured I'd go for the white and black of the bottom portion of the cover and the blue pearls for both the blue of the title and the pearls around the cover girl's neck.

Thanks for reading.
Cya next time,

Happy Beltane (Featuring Jiffy my dog)

I didn't get to do much for Beltane this year other than dress up and decorate my altar. So here are some pictures of a bit of a photo shoot I did.

Jiffy wanted to join play so I figured I'd get some pictures.

Here's my altar with some fresh flowers from the backyard.

If My Blog Were An Outfit

Apparently this is a thing that is going around started by Hairspray and High Heels a blog I do not follow. I found out about it from Girl Gone Geek which is an awesome blog you should check out.

Of course, me being me, I had to make more than just one outfit. My blog, like me has multiple sides.

if my blog was an outfit 1

First of course the Nerdy of Girly Nerd, plus my slightly punky side with the jeans and converse.

if my blog was an outfit 2

The retro, gothabilly side. (With some of my favorite shade of pink.)

if my blog was an outfit 3

Plus the neovictorian side of me as well. (Also I think this one is vaguely lolita if that skirt was poofier and had a ruffle or two.)

There's my quick post for the night. Thanks for reading.
Goodbye for now internets,

Channeling Maleficent Today

So I may be addicted to Disneybounding. Today I decided to channel Maleficent. I needed that extra bit of diva.

I kept laughing while trying to do Maleficent-like poses.

Also the sun in my eyes equals some major "bitch face." I swear I'm not this mean! I'm just dressed like a villain!

Headband: Rue 21
Top: Thrifted
Skirt: Thrifted

I think I'm getting there with the make-up photos. It was hard with the sun again. So for your amusement I saved some of the funnier facial expressions:

Disneybound Day 18: Barrel from Nightmare Before Christmas

Look at how cute he is with his little skeleton outfit! I had been wanting to do this one but couldn't due to a lack of a skeleton dress. Then I went to a clothing swap on Sunday and procured one from my friend!

It was a pleasant 65 all day today up until I was taking these pictures. Then it was far too sunny and a bit too warm So sorry for the squinty eyes.

Look it even has arm bones! I think this is my new favorite dress.

Dress: Clothing Swap (Brand is Teenage Runaway which is a Hot Topic Brand)
Tights: Forever 21
Boots: Target
Bow: Hot Topic

I tried to get a decent picture of my makeup. This one is okay but the sun way in my eyes too much I had to stop.

Anyways on to the pictures of beautiful, beautfil Filoli Gardens which is this 654 acre estate in Redwood City that is a national park now. They also have the house open to the public. It's so lovely.
